Thanos Matrapazis

Tap, Vernacular Jazz

Biography

From an early age he loved to sing and dance in front of others. For a few years he was involved in traditional dances, taking part in children's performances while exploring his passion for hip hop and break-dance.

Then as a teenager he took Latin classes such as Salsa, Cha Cha and Rumba and for a short time he started Tango classes. During the same period he was introduced to Swing and Blues, which he dedicated himself to for the following years, with intensive classes, social evenings, international festivals as well as international competitions.

In recent years as a teacher, with the rich history of Jazz as a social idiom as a reference point, he shares his love and knowledge of Swing and Blues. Apart from Jazz, he particularly likes Cuban and is constantly looking for new musical stimuli as a source of inspiration.
